Savory & Simple Rosemary Steak Marinade
Sometimes the best recipes are the simplest, and this Steak Marinade proves it. With a splash of tang, a hint of sweetness, and a sprig of fresh rosemary, it transforms everyday steaks into something juicy, flavorful, and downright irresistible. Plus, it all comes together in one ziplock bag — no extra dishes, no fuss, just bold flavor made simple.
Recipe
Prep:
10 minutes
Marinate:
6 hours
Cook Time:
12 minutes
Servings:
2 Steaks
Ingredients
- ¾ cup oil (olive oil preferred, but vegetable oil works too — that’s what I used in the photos!)
- ⅓ cup soy sauce (about 5 tbsp)
- 3 tbsp vinegar (apple cider or red wine vinegar both work)
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (or 2 tsp garlic powder)
- 2 tsp paprika (regular or smoked for more flavor)
- 1 ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste, since soy sauce adds salt too)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1–2 sprigs fresh rosemary (or 1 tsp dried rosemary)

Instructions
- Place both steaks in a gallon-size ziplock bag, set inside a bowl (for stability and spill prevention).
- Add all marinade ingredients directly into the bag.
- Seal the bag, then gently massage to make sure steaks are coated all over.
- Refrigerate for 6 hours.
- Remove steaks from the fridge at least 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
- Cook to your liking — grill or pan-sear over medium-high heat (about 6–8 minutes per side for medium).
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Sam’s Pro Tip
I hate washing oily dishes, so I skip mixing bowls completely — I just throw everything straight into the ziplock bag with the steaks. Less mess, more flavor!
